Why Keyboard Shortcuts Matter

During a live service, speed matters. The difference between a seamless scripture display and an awkward pause often comes down to a single keypress. Mastering WayPresenter's keyboard shortcuts will make you a more confident and efficient operator.

Essential Shortcuts for Live Services

These are the shortcuts every operator should know:

Display Control:

  • Enter or Space — Send current item to live display
  • Right Arrow — Next slide or verse
  • Left Arrow — Previous slide or verse
  • Escape — Clear the live display
  • B — Black screen toggle
  • W — White screen toggle

AI Detection:

  • Ctrl/Cmd + D — Toggle AI detection on/off
  • Ctrl/Cmd + Enter — Send the top detection to live
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 1-5 — Send specific detection to live

Move quickly between different content types:

  • Ctrl/Cmd + 1 — Jump to Songs tab
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 2 — Jump to Bible tab
  • Ctrl/Cmd + 3 — Jump to Media tab
  • Ctrl/Cmd + F — Focus the search bar
  • F11 — Toggle fullscreen mode

Pro Tips

Quick Scripture Lookup

Press Ctrl/Cmd + 2 to jump to the Bible tab, then immediately start typing a reference. The search bar auto-focuses, so there's no need to click.

Emergency Clear

If something goes wrong on screen, hit Escape twice — once to clear the live output, twice to also dismiss any pending AI detections.

Seamless Song Transitions

When you need to move between songs quickly, press Ctrl/Cmd + F to search, type the first few letters of the next song, press Enter to select it, and Enter again to go live. The entire process takes about two seconds.

Customizing Shortcuts

If the default shortcuts don't fit your workflow, customize them:

  1. Go to Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts
  2. Click on any action to see its current binding
  3. Press your preferred key combination
  4. Click Save

This is especially useful if you're used to shortcuts from other presentation software.

Practice Makes Perfect

Don't try to learn all shortcuts at once. Start with the five essential display control shortcuts, then add more as you get comfortable. Within a few services, they'll become second nature.
