Media Library
Media Library
The Media Library in WayPresenter lets you manage all of your visual assets — background images, motion backgrounds, videos, and other media — in one organized location.
Supported Formats
WayPresenter supports a wide range of media formats to work with the files your team already has.
Images
- JPEG (
.jpg,.jpeg) - PNG (
.png) - WebP (
.webp) - BMP (
.bmp) - GIF (
.gif, including animated GIFs)
Videos
- MP4 (
.mp4) — recommended for best compatibility - WebM (
.webm) - MOV (
.mov) - AVI (
.avi)
Audio (for background tracks)
- MP3 (
.mp3) - WAV (
.wav) - OGG (
.ogg)
For the best performance, use MP4 videos encoded with H.264 and images in JPEG or PNG format. Extremely high-resolution files (above 4K) may impact performance on older hardware.
Adding Media
There are several ways to bring media into your library.
Drag and Drop
The simplest method is to drag files directly from your file manager into the Media Library panel. WayPresenter copies the files into its managed storage, so the originals can be moved or deleted without affecting your library.
Import Button
- Open the Media Library from the sidebar.
- Click the Import button in the toolbar.
- Browse to the files or folder you want to add.
- Select one or more files and click Open.
- The files are imported and thumbnails are generated automatically.
Bulk Import
To import an entire folder of media at once, use Import > Import Folder. WayPresenter will scan the folder recursively, importing all supported file types while preserving the subfolder structure.
Organizing Into Folders
A well-organized media library saves time during live services and makes it easy for any team member to find the right asset.
Creating Folders
- In the Media Library panel, click the New Folder icon.
- Name the folder descriptively (e.g., "Christmas 2026", "Motion Backgrounds", "Sermon Series — Faith").
- Drag media items into the folder.
Recommended Folder Structure
Consider organizing your media by type and usage:
- Backgrounds — static images used behind text
- Motion Backgrounds — looping video backgrounds
- Sermon Graphics — title slides and series artwork
- Announcements — slides and videos for church announcements
- Seasonal — media organized by season or holiday
Tagging
In addition to folders, you can tag individual media items with keywords. Tags work across folders, so you can find all items tagged "blue" or "nature" regardless of where they are stored.
Using Backgrounds for Slides
Any image or video in your library can be set as a background for song lyrics, scripture, or announcement slides.
Applying a Background
- Select the slide or content item you want to customize.
- Click the Background button in the properties panel.
- Browse your Media Library or search by name or tag.
- Click the desired image or video to apply it.
Background Behavior
- Static images display at full resolution, scaled to fit your output.
- Videos loop seamlessly by default. You can disable looping or set a specific start and end point.
- Animated GIFs play on a continuous loop.
You can also set a default background in your theme, so every new slide uses it automatically unless overridden.
Video Playback
WayPresenter can play standalone videos as part of a service — not just as backgrounds, but as full-screen content items.
Adding a Video to a Service
- In the Service Planner, click Add Item > Video.
- Select a video from your Media Library or import a new one.
- The video appears in your service order and can be repositioned like any other item.
Playback Controls
During a live service, video playback includes:
- Play / Pause / Stop buttons in the control bar
- Scrub bar for jumping to a specific point in the video
- Volume control for videos with audio
- Loop toggle for continuous playback
Picture-in-Picture
For videos that should play alongside other content (such as a sign language interpreter feed), WayPresenter supports a picture-in-picture mode. Configure the size and position of the video overlay in Settings > Display > Picture-in-Picture.
Importing Media Packs
WayPresenter supports downloadable media packs — curated collections of backgrounds, motion loops, and graphics designed to work together.
Installing a Media Pack
- Download a media pack (
.wpmediafile) from the WayPresenter website or a third-party provider. - In the Media Library, click Import > Media Pack.
- Select the
.wpmediafile. - The pack is extracted and its contents are added to a new folder in your library, named after the pack.
Media packs are a convenient way to refresh your visuals for a new sermon series or seasonal theme without sourcing individual assets.
